The latest study published by the Centre for Social Opinion investigation (CBOS) presents the results of the August survey, which shows a further decline in support of Donald Tusk's government. This was the second period in a row in which the percent of opponents of the government outweighed the number of his supporters. These results are a clear signal of the worsening political situation of the current cabinet.

Government supporters and opponents – details of results

According to a CBOS survey, in August only 32% of the respondents identified themselves as supporters of the government. That's 1 percent point little than July. It is worth noting that in June the support for the government and the number of its opponents were at the same level – 36%. The fall in support by 4 percent points in 2 months represents a crucial alarm signal for the government.

On the another hand, the number of government opponents has remained unchangeable at 40%, suggesting that the growth trend of opponents, observed earlier, stabilises. However, it is worth noting that this advanced level of discontent is now constant and shows no signs of decline.

A increasing number of indifferent people

CBOS draws attention to the expanding percent of people who declare indifference to government action. In August, it was 25%, which means an increase of 1 percent point compared to July. This phenomenon can be interpreted as a consequence of the weariness of society with current political events as well as a deficiency of assurance in the effectiveness of government activities. It is worth adding that 3% of respondents were incapable to clearly find their attitude towards the government.

Assessment by Prime Minister Donald Tusk

Prime Minister Donald Tusk is besides experiencing a decline in support. In August 35% of respondents expressed satisfaction with his leadership, which means a drop of 2 percent points compared to July. In June, as much as 40% of respondents declared satisfaction with the Prime Minister's work, which means that within 2 months his support fell by 5 percent points.

In turn, 53% of respondents expressed discontent with Tusk's management, which is simply a unchangeable consequence compared to the erstwhile month. The advanced level of discontent has persisted for a long time, which could be a serious problem for the government in the context of the upcoming elections.

Assessment of economical policy

Government economical policy besides faces criticism. Only 36% of respondents believe that the government offers an chance to improve the country's economical situation, which represents a drop of 2 percent points compared to July. On the another hand, as many as 50% of respondents say that government economical policy is not conducive to economical recovery, which remains at the same level as last month.

Summary

The CBOS study clearly shows that support for Donald Tusk's government is steadily falling, and the number of his opponents remains high. The changing dynamics of support can show the increasing discontent of the population, both in the context of political and economical action. The increase in indifference to the government further complicates the situation, pointing to a deepening crisis of trust.

Current trends can have a crucial impact on the political future of Poland, especially in the context of the upcoming elections. The government will gotta take decisive steps to regain public assurance and reverse the negative trends that are beginning to deepen.
