Did Ukrainians win Monte Cassino?
Recently, the Polish patriotic part of the society has awakened the situation related to the speech of the Ministry of abroad Affairs of Ukraine, which claims that up to 5 1000 Ukrainians were conquered by Monte Cassino. However, the effort to "stick" to the present glorifiers of murderers from the band UPA and SS Galizien to triumph over Nazi Germany at the conflict of Monte Cassino is not the consequence of the current actions, but is simply a continuation of the lies of historical fact on this subject led by the Ukrainian side for years. This scandalous subject was raised on his channel by Marcin Kubicki: (link).
Ukrainians in 1939 were citizens of the Polish state. That's an undisputed fact. The majority of citizens of the Polish Ukrainian nationality, which passed through the Polish Armed Forces in the West, as Kresy.pl noted, in the 2nd Polish Corps fighting in Italy. However, we must remember that the forces of the Second Polish Corps were reinforced especially in the spring of 1945 by Polish citizens who were gaining freedom from German captivity.
18 fallen soldiers of Ukrainian nationality were identified at the Polish War Cemetery on Monte Cassino[1]. Given the full number of Polish soldiers killed at the conflict of Monte Cassino, which closes to 1,072 people, the number of soldiers of Polish Ukrainian nationality is 1.67 % of the full group. At the same time, we must remember that the ideology of chauvinism of the band, now glorified in Ukraine, did not support the full Ukrainian society.
This is evidenced by the murders committed on the unruly Ukrainians by UPA long after the end of planet War II. Therefore, it seems harmful to fallen soldiers of Polish Ukrainian nationality to combine them with the ideology of the state trying to make a modern version of totalitarianism, in the fight against which they were killed.
In 1958, a book by Zinowia Knysz was published in Paris, entitled “For Another’s Cause”. The Pashquil above sought to present the memories of Mikhail Kozij, a Polish soldier of Ukrainian origin fighting in the composition of the Second Polish Corps. due to the inability to write, Knysz took the lead. It is worth to halt here on the individual of the author of pashquil. Zinovij Knysz was born in 1906. It has belonged to the CNS since 1924.
In November 1931, he was arrested and sentenced to 8 years in prison for organizing a robbery of a message car close Beaverka[2]. In 1962 Benedict Heydenkorn published a review showing all the lies contained in these memories[3].
This was not the end of the “drifts” under others' past cards. On March 26, 1986, Petro Matioszka, president of the Monte Cassino Committee of Ukrainian Students, wrote a magazine published in the United States “Echo Ukrainian” article on “The Monte Cassino Committee conducts researchIt’s okay. ” In his meditations to the public in the West, he attempted to show that the Ukrainians had contributed decisively to the Allied victory.
In this case, however, the Polish emigration communities protested at the Smithsonian Institute, which included “revelations” by Matioszka. There was besides a symposium at Georgetown University, where the issue of the Monte Cassino fight was addressed. More than 800 people from the UK, Canada, Israel, Norway, France, Germany and Italy participated[4].
Such attempts to bargain historical heritage will proceed by the Ukrainian side. An example of a documentary movie of French production clearly shows that the recipients of this kind of lie are the opinion in the West, which is to believe in the crystalline attitude of Ukrainians during the war, while at the same time deploring Poland, which, for flagism, as at 1 time and now, is an obstacle on the way to the totalitarian version of Ukraine.
