The celebrated miracle of Saint John was repeated in Naples. The faithful from the city and many another regions of the planet expected this.
For centuries, the city's patron's blood has been condensed 3 times a year: on Saturday before the first Sunday of May, that is, on the festival of the transfer of relics to Naples, on the day of his liturgical memory on September 19, and on December 16, a day commemorating the informing of Vesuvius' eruption in 1631.
This miracle has been documented since the mediate Ages; the change in the consistency of the blood clot of the martyr is considered a forerunner of prosperity for Naples and its inhabitants, and its absence—as a bad omen. This happened, for example, in the years of coronavirus pandemics in 2020 and 2021.
According to St.January's tradition, he was bishop of Benevent - a town located about 70 km east of Naples. During the large persecution of Christians during the reign of Roman Emperor Diocletian (III–IV centuries) suffered martyrdom along with six companions from his diocese. All of them were beheaded in Puteola (today's Pozzaoli) close Naples on 19 September 305.
The Church has so far not taken a stand on this event, unequivocally stating that it is supernatural. However, the event is widely surrounded by large faith.
