More and more Polish marriages... to Ukrainians. Another evidence is down

There are more and more Polish-Ukrainian marriages. As the latest data shows, a fresh evidence was dropped in 2024. The biggest popularity is the matrimony of Polish men to Ukrainians, although there is no deficiency of the other arrangement.

More than 1.5 million Ukrainian citizens are presently legally present in Poland. Most of the war refugees are women. This has concrete effects on marriages in Poland.

According to Łódź sociologist Prof. Piotr Szukalski, in 2024 a full of 5359 married couples attended by at least 1 Ukrainian citizen were married. Although most of them were Ukrainian-Ukrainian marriages, they were small. Mixed Polish-Ukrainian marriages included 2556 – more than 300 more than in 2023 and more than 500 more than in 2000.

Polish men married 2021 Ukrainian women. On the another hand, Polki decided to marry 535 Ukrainian citizens.

According to the sociologist, specified statistic are mainly related to the fact that women dominate among fresh Ukrainian visitors in Poland.

They are besides more likely to marry Poles of low material status, as it is akin to their own.
