Campus Poland's Future, an initiative promoted by Rafał Trzaskowski, is becoming increasingly emotional. Contrary to erstwhile assurances of Citizens' Platform politicians, this event was organised for public funds. Our journalists have established that at least PLN 700,000 from local budgets has been allocated to the organisation of the event.
Verification of Barbara Nowack's statements
Barbara Nowacka, associate of the Citizens' Coalition, spoke on the programme "Graffiti" on air, became a key point in the full case Polsat News stated that Campus Polska Future did not usage public funds. Her words were, "We as Campus did not contact any gold in public money". This message is contrary to the facts, since the money from local budgets is included in public funds. In this context, Campus did not go without financial support from taxpayers' money.
Contribution of Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and another local governments
Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship played a peculiarly crucial function in financing the event, which spent on “promotion service” until PLN 300 thousand. This money came from the local government budget, and Campus organizers won the tender announced by this voivodship. Warmian-Masurian government became 1 of the key partners of this year's Campus edition, joining cities specified as Bydgoszcz, Olsztyn, Katowice, Kraków and voivodships: lubuski, kujavisko-pomorskie And others.
In total, according to the data received by our local government journalists, they transferred to Campus Polska The future at least PLN 700 thousand. Of this amount PLN 400 thousand came from the budget of Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and Olsztyn. another financial support came from the following sources:
- PLN 45 thousand from the Opole Voivodeship,
- PLN 40 thousand from the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship,
- PLN 30 thousand from the Silesian Voivodeship,
- PLN 25 thousand from the city of Kraków,
- PLN 20 thousand from the Zachodniopomorskie and Bielsko-Biala voivodships,
- PLN 15,000 from the Podlaskie and Pomeranian Voivodeship, Toruń, Sosnowiec, Radom, Katowice and advanced Silesian-Zagłobiowska Metropolitania,
- PLN 10 thousand from Bydgoszcz,
- 8.6 1000 PLN from Płock,
- PLN 5 thousand from Lublin.
It is worth noting that these amounts do not constitute the full list of resources allocated by local authorities to Campus. It is possible that further data on this issue will gradually be revealed, which may further heat up the debate on the financing of this event.
Controversy over funding
From the position of political opponents Rafał Trzaskowski, public backing of Campus is evidence of the deficiency of transparency of the Citizens' Platform. They argue that the politicians of the organization publically assured that there was no financial commitment on the part of the state budget or the local government, which, as has been shown, was not actually reflected.
The Campus Polska event of the Future, although promoted as a forum for dialog between young people and opinion leaders, politicians and experts, becomes a arena of political disputes. Critics claim that Campus, although officially unrelated to any political party, has a de facto promotional function for the Civic Platform and Rafał Trzaskowski.
Summary
Financing Campus Polish Future with public money, contrary to the assurances of politicians, is simply a fact confirmed by independent sources. The amount of PLN 700,000, coming from local budgets, sheds fresh light on the controversy surrounding this event. For part of the public, this is evidence of the deficiency of transparency of the Citizens' Platform's activities, while Trzaskovsky's supporters emphasise the function of Campus in promoting dialog and cooperation.
