British Airways Summer 2025 Schedule Changes

For the summer season 2025 schedule changes, British Airways has announced a major expansion to Italy. British Airways is making a significant push into Milan Linate (LIN), the second largest airport in Milan.

Milan is one of the most important business travel hubs in Italy. British Airways will also reduce its presence in Milan Malpensa Airport.

Milan Expansion

  • London Heathrow (LHR) – Milan Linate (LIN):
BA is increasing flights from 30 flights per week to 47 per week. reflecting strong demand for flights into Milan’s city-center airport. Linate’s proximity to downtown Milan makes it a preferred choice for business travelers.
  • London City (LCY) – Milan Linate (LIN):
Flights from London City Airport to Milan Linate will increase from 1 per week to 13 per week. From almost nonexistent 1 weekly flights to almost 2 daily flights, BA is significantly increasing capacity between these two cities.
  • London Heathrow (LHR) – Milan Malpensa (MXP):
BA, on the other hand, is cutting the number of weekly flights between Heathrow and Milan Malpensa from 31 flights per week to 21 (down to 19 during off-peak months). This reflects a shift in focus toward Linate, which is more convenient for business travelers.

Winter 2025 Schedule Changes

For the Winter 2025 season, British Airways has announced adjustments across its long-haul network. The airline says that changes are being made to increase capacity on high-demand routes and optimize the schedule for better efficiency.

British Airways is expanding services to Riyadh and Bangkok. The airline will deploy higher-capacity aircraft to Johannesburg, Dubai, and Miami. British Airways will deploy the Airbus A380-800 aircraft to accommodate growing passenger demand.

At the same time, select routes such as Doha, San Diego, and Jeddah will see minor frequency reductions. The airline wants to ensure balanced network strategy. The airline states that these adjustments demonstrate British Airways’ dedication to improving connectivity while optimizing operational efficiency

Increased Frequencies & Aircraft Upgrades

  • London Heathrow (LHR) – Riyadh (RUH):
British Airways is significantly increasing flights from 7 to 13 per week, reflecting strong commercial demand for travel between London and the Saudi Arabian capital. Saudia will also increase flights to London from Riyadh. Riyadh is a key destination for business travelers and expatriates, and this expansion will provide more flexibility for passengers.
  • London Gatwick (LGW) – Bangkok (BKK):
British Airways is doubling its Bangkok service from 3 to 6 flights per week, marking a substantial increase in capacity for travelers heading to Thailand. Bangkok is a popular destination for both leisure and business travelers, and this expansion ensures better connectivity.
  • London Heathrow (LHR) – Johannesburg (JNB):
British Airways will deploy the Airbus A380 on both of the frequencies. This will significantly boost capacity in one of its busiest South African sectors. Currently, British Airways operates 2 daily flights to Johannesburg. Only one of the frequencies currently sees A380-800. Johannesburg is a crucial hub for business and tourism, and the A380’s increased seating capacity will enhance connectivity.
  • London Heathrow (LHR) – Dubai (DXB):
The BA107/106 service will now be operated by an Airbus A380, responding to high passenger demand on the UK-UAE corridor. Dubai remains a vital destination for business, tourism, and expatriate travel.
  • London Heathrow (LHR) – Miami (MIA):
Another major upgrade: the BA207/206/209/208 flights to Miami will now be operated by the A380. Miami is an important leisure and business destination, and the deployment of the superjumbo will offer more capacity and comfort on this transatlantic route.

Service Reductions & Adjustments

  • London Heathrow (LHR) – Doha (DOH):
Flights will be reduced from 14 to 12 per week, reflecting an adjustment in demand for services to Qatar’s capital. However, BA continues to maintain strong connectivity to Doha, a significant business and transit hub.
  • London Heathrow (LHR) – San Diego (SAN):
Service to the Californian city will reduce from 14 to 13 flights per week, making a minor adjustment to align with seasonal demand trends.
  • London Heathrow (LHR) – Jeddah (JED):
The airline will remove one weekly flight while also adjusting operating days. Jeddah remains a crucial market, particularly for religious travel, but this minor reduction optimizes BA’s scheduling.
  • London Heathrow (LHR) – São Paulo (GRU):
Flights to São Paulo, Brazil’s largest city, will decrease from 10 to 7 weekly services, aligning with demand fluctuations in the Latin American market.
  • London Heathrow (LHR) – Houston (IAH) & New Orleans (MSY):
BA is trimming one weekly flight on both routes, ensuring efficient operations while maintaining strong connectivity to these U.S. destinations.

Day-of-week adjustments will be made on multiple routes, including Baltimore (BWI), Cincinnati (CVG), Tokyo Haneda (HND), Jeddah (JED), Portland (PDX), and Pittsburgh (PIT) to improve overall network efficiency.
