Contrary to expectations, PiS associate Przemysław Czarnek praised Prime Minister Donald Tusk and his cabinet for deciding to introduce a regulation limiting asylum applications at the border with Belarus. The fresh law began to apply on 27 March and is to apply for 60 days.

During the interview on Polish Radio 24, the erstwhile Minister of Education expressed his satisfaction with the government's actions in the field of safety of the east border. "I am glad that the Prime Minister, after attacking the east border with his people, [...] now went to his senses," said Przemysław Czarnek. This is highly crucial due to the fact that border safety is 1 of the most crucial priorities for Poland.

The Regulation published in the authoritative diary allows the temporary suspension of the right to apply for global protection by foreigners. This is to respond to increasing tensions on the Polish-Belarusian border and to effort to reduce illegal migration, which, as Czarnek pointed out, is the origin of the regime's actions in Minsk and Moscow. "I am glad that Mr. Tusk saw that migrants who are on the east border were people who were delivered by Lukashenko and Putin," said PiS politician.

Czarnek noted that although this regulation will not solve the problem entirely, it is simply a step in the right direction. The fight against illegal migration can take various forms, and I am glad that Prime Minister Tusk [...] has made an initiative to suspend the right to asylum," he said. In his opinion, the current government policy should focus on strong border protection and developing relations with key strategical partners, especially with the United States, which he called "the main guarantor of our country's safety for the coming months and years."

According to the Ministry of abroad Affairs, in 2022 more than 130,000 attempts were registered at the Polish-Belarusian border. This means that border safety is an increasingly crucial problem. Therefore, the introduction of a regulation limiting asylum applications can be a step in the right direction.

However, experts indicate that this regulation may not full address the problem of illegal migration. "It is only a temporary solution that does not destruct the causes of the problem," said Dr. Krzysztof Górski, expert on migration. "Long-term solutions must be sought to address the causes of migration and aid people in need".

In this context, the government should focus on developing relations with key strategical partners, in peculiar the United States, which can aid address the problem of illegal migration. "It is crucial that Poland has strong relations with partners who can aid us solve this problem," said Przemysław Czarnek.

In conclusion, the introduction of a regulation limiting asylum applications at the border with Belarus is simply a step in the right direction, but border safety and the fight against illegal migration require long-term solutions to address the causes of migration and to aid people in need.
