In fresh weeksThe planet has one more time turned its attention to the mediate East, where conflict escalates. Israeli air force raided the suburb of Beirut, resulting in 3 deaths and 85 injured, 5 of which are in critical condition. The raid was intended to destruct Szukra, toLeaders liable for Saturday fire controlled by Israel's Golan Hills, in which 12 people were killed.
International reactions
Israeli authorities and the Washington administration explicitly accused Hezbollah of carrying out a Saturday attack. However, the Lebanese organization rejected these accusations without admitting work for events at Golan Hills. Nevertheless, the anonymous Israeli sources, quoted in the media, foretold retaliation, stating that its intent was not to trigger a full-scale war.
entry by Konrad Berkovich
On the wave of these events, Confederate associate Konrad Berkowicz posted a sharp and emotional entry on the X platform (formerly Twitter). Right-wing politician demands the expulsion of Israeli athletes from the Paris Olympics. Berkowicz published a short movie that shows the effects of the air bombing of the city on the streets of Beirut, well depicting the degree of the harm caused by the bombings of the IDF forces.
– Beirut bombed. Israel should be expelled from the Olympic Games and isolated from the world, like any terrorist state – wrote Berkowicz.
Analysis of the Berkovich Entry
Berkowicz's entry sparked many controversy and varied reactions in the media and among politicians. On the 1 hand, any observers believe that Berkovich's emotional reaction is understandable, given the degree of the harm and civilian casualties in Beirut. On the another hand, his proposal to exclude Israel from the Olympics met with criticism as a populist and unthought-out action that could exacerbate global tensions.
Political and Legal Context
Sanctions against states and their sports representatives are not news in the past of global sports competitions. For example, in 1964 the global Olympic Committee (OCOL) suspended South Africa due to apartheid policy. However, any decision to impose sanctions requires a detailed legal analysis and global agreement, which would be highly complicated for Israel and its conflicts with its neighbours.
Summary
Conflicts in the mediate East proceed to attract the attention of the global community, and fresh developments in Beirut are further evidence of this. Konrad Berkowicz's entry, albeit controversial, is only a fragment of a broader debate on global responses to military activities and their impact on global relations. The exclusion of Israel from the Olympics is simply a proposal that would require a broad global discussion and agreement, as well as a thorough legal and political analysis.
