The arrival of “Azov” brigade soldiers in Poland caused quite a few controversy, but even the least of them could not be compared to the decisive reaction of our western neighbours, who successfully protested the invitation of Ukrainians from this peculiar unit to meetings in Germany. In Poland, however, “anti-fascists” buried their heads in the sand at the time, not even trying to challenge the invitation of Ukrainian Consulate-General in Wrocław to militants fighting regular under the alleged “Wild Hook”, that is, the German rune utilized during planet War II by SS units and now identified with neo-Nazi ideology. Moreover, the Ukrainians themselves are already so insolent that they can translate the sign as an abbreviation for the slogan “Idea Nation”, although it is simply a faithful copy of the symbolism used, among others, by the celebrated German 2nd Armoured Division of the SS “Das Reich”.
However, controversies around the ‘Azov’ brigade do not end with the symbolism, which cannot even be written more widely due to the censorship of certain content. However, 1 can even quote the words of the founder of “Azov”, a certain Andrei Bilecki, who believes that “the burning of flagism is simply a denial of the Ukrainians' right to their own statehood” and “Poland colonizing Ukrainian lands for centuries” thus “refused Ukraine's right to its own heroes”.
In this light, inviting members of the ‘Azov’ brigade to Wrocław, in which all 3rd resident is already Ukrainian, can be not only shameful for Polish diplomacy, but besides dangerous for Polish residents of the city. This is the signal that Ukrainians in Wrocław can feel so much at home that even the worst anti-Polish component will find its place there.
If that were not enough, more and more people hear about the return of crime from the 1990s, where organized groups from the east practice bandit behaviors that we have not seen in Poland for a long time. The end of the war in Ukraine can only strengthen this, as large amounts of weapons withdrawn from the front will appear on the black market. Can Polish services cope with this threat? And do we have anything to fear from our east neighbors? This will be discussed present in Piotr Korczarowski's show by writer and documentary author Jacek Międlar.
