‘The only thought he has @pisorgpl, that is to say words that are embarrassing – that Poland will defend itself. It's like these people are declaring war on us... These are mediocre people who are looking for their place on earth” – said Donald Tusk almost precisely a year ago, erstwhile he was inactive in opposition.
It took only a fewer months behind the government's controls and we have a comprehensive migration strategy, and the crisis on the Belarusian border has been successfully resolved and admirable. Soldiers trained with humanitarian aid and non-violent communication in cooperation with activists and local residents pull mediocre people out of forests and swamps.
Migrants are waiting for modest but neat housing across the country, due to the fact that we know that their knowledge, experience, culture and work will be a valuable contribution to the improvement of society. Poles remember what it was like erstwhile their families had to leave the country in search of bread and better fate, so present they aid people who had to flee their homelands. Helping is human nature, so the military and the Border defender work with satisfaction. We are all happy in Poland that we have reviewed Putin's inhuman plans and neutralized them, refusing to participate in his game of war.
I want I could say that for real, but the fact is, unfortunately, completely different. In forests on the border, in chaos and makeshift, people are inactive dying. Illegal pushbacks continue, Border Guards do not even let refugees with documents, and Prime Minister Tusk continues his practices, which he has late considered to be compromising.
Today he says otherwise more than a year ago: “Our border will be defended by all available means. The military, the Border defender and the police can number on my full support. I am impressed by your courage, professionalism and dedication.” On the occasion of the child's day, young refugees could number on the barrier being moved to Belarus. How ironic that on 4 June, as part of the celebration of the 35th anniversary of partially free elections and – indeed! – Day of Freedom and civilian Rights, we ban entry into the forest, and we trample migrants' rights and push them into an authoritarian country where they will be trampled even more violently.
What happened? Did the point of view change just due to the change of seat? Was it adequate for 1 wounded soldier to halt migrants from being mediocre people and become Putin's surviving weapon against which all available means should be used? Can our liberal, enlightened, democratic and law-abiding power truly not afford solutions another than fake, ineffective, harmful and even illegal and bandit?
After all, EU law guarantees freedom of movement even for residents of Podlasie and activists. Besides, why does freedom of movement abruptly bother Tusk? Honest people, and even more professional soldiers, have nothing to fear. Only criminals must hide their actions from the eyes of the media, social organizations or random observers. Does anyone truly believe that creating a buffer region will aid anyone? Do migrants in Bialowieża attack people so often? possibly only the soldiers will be little ashamed that they won't wallow in pictures. ..striped from the garbage of huts.In which they spend the night with dedication to defender the border professionally.
How can you believe the Prime Minister can number on his full support erstwhile they can't even number on tents, toilets and firewood? You can't even wipe or heat your ass with that kind of support, so the soldiers stay. cutting trees in reservesThey're just freezing. In the Forest, it is easy to get lost, and modern navigation equipment is seemingly missing, so in the UNESCO planet Heritage site, soldiers nailed to the trees the guide signs: “Left”, “Right”, “Ass Centre” or “Chat at Ahmed”.
I feel sorry for the soldiers that they gotta work under these conditions, and besides to perceive to the coops, how power cares and supports them. Just shoot yourself in the head with despair. Do you know that on the border more soldiers They died at their own hands. Not due to the attacks of migrants? Why does no 1 care about their intellectual wellness and general welfare? It's known that it's easier to blame strangers than their own, and there's nothing like a common enemy. However, 1 might wonder if this is simply a sensible strategy.
The real threat is not migrants, but our racist, militaristic and populist politics. It is known that it is easier to wave a sword and shout that we will not return a button than to prepare and implement a migration policy strategy for the coming years or decades.
Will KO be worse than the Law and Justice on migration? NGOs are informing that the situation at the border is becoming increasingly dramatic. At the end of May warned: "For respective weeks now, we have seen an escalation of force and expanding ruthlessness in the application of export policy by the Border defender and the Polish Army towards people who effort to cross the Polish-Belarusian border. [...] The experience of force at the hands of Polish uniformed services has been reported by more than 1000 people.” Moments later, the media reported an attack on a Polish soldier. Is anyone amazed that the escalation is hitting both sides?
"Solutions" specified as a buffer region with a ban on entry are lethal not only for migrants but besides for local businesses and local governments that live from tourism. No wonder locals protest together with activists: "the introduction of a ban on residence in the border region means the end of the tourist season". Tusk made something unusual. He has come up with specified an absurd solution that not only will it be ineffective (for who will defender specified a large area, since we are not even able to border), he violates EU law and is opposed by both activists and local residents and politicians.
After all, there are clear points in this darkness. In the Ministry of abroad Affairs, they are reasoning of amending the pushback regulation and the introduction of regulations allowing “to measure the individual situation of all migrant who has been in Poland”. Deputy Chief of the Ministry Maciej Duszczyk ensure that they are moving "Working on preparing a comprehensive, liable and safe migration strategy for Poland for the years 2025–30", and the task is to be widely consulted.
Good, due to the fact that there's inactive quite a few work to be done. erstwhile Duszczyk explains that migrants are seemingly not curious in global protection, due to the fact that “they approach the border of Poland, but at the sight of Border defender patrols or troops retreat into the territory of Belarus”, I feel that he did not even watch film Agnieszka Holland. Not to mention reading Nicholas Grynberg's book or reports of the Border Group. Besides, even listening to the Polish hip-hop would enrich him with the cognition that it is better to flee erstwhile the officers are seen, due to the fact that the police are disturbing us and not helping us. I hope that at least any of those consulting the strategy will get this awareness, or possibly even be fresh after reading the book Gai Vince's Political Criticism has just published A 100 nomads. How people's journeys will change the world.
Migration has always been an integral part of the improvement of human civilization. The rigid national borders are a substance of the last 2 100 years. The planet doesn't gotta look what it looks like, and it's almost surely not going to look like this, given that due to the climate disaster inactive at this age it will gotta leave its homes most likely at least a billion, or alternatively 2 billion people.
Migration can't be stopped. We can only more or little manage the flow of people. Build fresh cities or settle them in ghettos. Let them creatively join our society or treat us as enemies who want to “take distant our jobs” and who “stretch their hands for benefits”. However, it is not by accident that employers' and entrepreneurs' organisations have been speaking loudly for years about the request to open borders and the marketplace to people outside Poland.
Contrary to racist, populist propaganda, most migrants are grateful to the countries that adopted them. Often, migrants are even greater patriots than those who have lived in their country for generations. They make a crucial contribution not only to economical development, due to the fact that they are willing to work harder and longer than locals, but besides to culture, cuisine or creativity.
Gaia Vince writes with passion and imagination what awaits us in the future and what we can do to make the future of civilization alternatively bright than dark. He wonders where and how we can live safely. “ The way in which we will manage this global process and how we will treat each another humanitarianly during migration, ” he writes, “will find whether the coming changes will go smoothly or whether the next century will be marked by violent conflicts and unnecessary fatalities. If we control this coup properly, it could consequence in a fresh global human community."
I think that not only Tusk, but all politician and all politician should ask themselves whether they choose force or cooperation, humanitarianism or racism, future or destruction. The answer truly is not that difficult, although polls can propose otherwise. However, it is worth remembering that although the situation may seem hopeless, we have no better option than with courage and imagination to face the future that is painted in dark colors. #stop-crossing
