The Austrians wanted to expel a Syrian convicted of committing crimes from their country. This was expected to be the first case in years. It didn't work.

The Syrian's expulsion was hindered by the war in the mediate East. The airline to be transported by a 32-year-old Syrian citizen suspended flights to this country.

Meanwhile, the case was highly politicized, as Syrians had not been deported from Austria in about 10 years. erstwhile Bashar Assad's government was overthrown, the Austrians felt that sending Syrians would become possible. However, the first spectacular deportation failed – and it is not known if they will be next.

Austrian asylum experts say the situation is uncertain in Syria, which means that the asylum seeker could possibly be subjected to torture or arrest on the spot. That's why he shouldn't be sent away.

It cannot be excluded, therefore, that the loudly announced fresh Austrian migration policy – nothing will come out of it, as from the close first flight with the deported to the mediate East.
