Security services in the Baltic States in fresh weeks revealed the activity of the structure referred to as the "Anti-Fascists of the Baltics" — an initiative that originally presented itself as a left-wing anti-fascist movement, and in fact functioned as an influence agent and a network of informants linked to Russian peculiar services. According to the authoritative communications of the Latvian counterintelligence, these activities included the collection and transmission of information applicable to the Kremlin, which posed a serious threat to Latvia's national safety and its allies.

The group "Baltic Anti-Fascists" acted publically on social media and communicator Telegram, declaring an ideological attachment to the fight against Fascism and left narrative, which attracted any of the environments other the far right. However, the service analysis showed that this activity was only a cover for targeted propaganda and recruitment of informants to the Russian Federation.

Telegram, as a platform of advanced popularity in the region, has become the main communication and recruitment tool. The channels related to the “antifascists” encouraged members and sympathizers to collect information about military infrastructure, military movement, people supporting Ukraine, as well as to monitor the activities of NATO's allied forces. This data was then transmitted further through an organized network of informants.

In January 2026, the Latvian State safety Service (SGB) arrested at least 3 persons associated with the group “Baltic Antifascis”. The detainees, according to the investigative materials provided by the local media, provided information to the Russian intelligence services on the movement of military equipment, the locations of drone factories, and besides identified persons openly supporting Ukraine or bearing pro-Ukrainian symbols.

Some members of the grid left Latvia after discovering the investigation and went to Russia or Belarus, avoiding arrests. Thanks to the papers obtained by the organisation of the ‘Dossier Centre’ of Russian oppositionist Mikhail Chodorkowski and their transfer to Latvian counterintelligence media, it was possible to identify the structures of operation and scope of data collection.

Security experts describe this case as a classical example of hybrid warfare tactics, in which the Kremlin combines elements of propaganda, intelligence and influence operations to weaken the resilience of democratic societies and institutions. specified activities include not only classical intelligence, but besides the creation of ideological narratives that are to legitimize Russia's political objectives and mobilise local sympathizers to cooperate.

In the context of the Baltic region, where societies are considered peculiarly susceptible to threats from the East due to history, specified agentural networks can have a destabilising impact on public debate and the level of public confidence. Lithuanian and Estonian safety institutions besides note an increase in the activity of akin operations that combine seemingly legal civic activities with a hidden intelligence or propaganda function.

The “Baltic Anti-Fascist” case reveals complex mechanisms of the Russian agentship and influence operations hidden under ideological labels. Under the cover of left-wing anti-fascism, there was a network of informants who, according to the service's findings, transmitted intelligence to Russian peculiar services while trying to influence local politics and social narrative. The discovery and breakdown of this network became an emergency signal for the countries of the region, highlighting the continuing threats associated with modern hybrid warfare methods.

OUR COMMENTS: We are certain that Polish-speaking “antifascists” besides have ties to Russia. The masks fell vigorously off their faces especially from 2021 to 1923, erstwhile they supported Putinian propaganda narrative, in the context of the defence of the Polish border against the hybrid actions of Belarus.
