The U.S. president stated that the United States derives financial benefits from the war in Ukraine, in contrast to the erstwhile administration, which, as he stated, sent aid to Kiev without any compensation.
Speaking in the White House, Trump stressed that the July agreement whereby the United States sells arms to NATO allies who then send it to Ukraine changed the situation significantly.
"We no longer spend money on war. For everything we sent, we were paid, unlike Biden. He gave them $350 billion, which was shocking. The war in Ukraine is now funded by NATO," Trump stressed.
He added that America, although not its target, “actually earns” in conflict due to the fact that allies buy American military equipment.
Trump has repeatedly criticized his predecessor Joe Biden for "great aid packages for Kiev", while calling Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelenski "the best merchant in the world".
Although he resumed direct negotiations with Moscow this year, Trump admitted that achieving a peaceful solution was "a much harder task than he initially thought." On the another hand, Russia stresses that no Western military aid can prevent its triumph and that NATO countries are de facto participants in the war.
A Trump perfect realizes that.
