TOKYO- AirJapan (NQ) increases its flights between Singapore (SIN) and Tokyo Narita (NRT) to daily service starting November 2025, boosting capacity by 40%. This expansion contrasts with ZIPAIR (ZG), which reduces its SIN-NRT route to five weekly flights from January to March 2026.
Both low-cost carriers target the competitive Singapore-Tokyo market but offer different products: AirJapan focuses on all economy affordability, while ZIPAIR (ZG) provides flat-bed business seats. Travelers gain more options amid rising route capacity.

AirJapan Daily Singapore Flights
AirJapan (NQ), a budget subsidiary of All Nippon Airways, launches daily flights from Singapore (SIN) to Tokyo Narita (NRT) on November 21, 2025.
The airline started the route in April 2024 and added a third Boeing 787-8 aircraft to support the increase.
Current 5 weekly operations skip Tuesdays and Wednesdays from Tokyo (NRT) and Wednesdays and Thursdays from Singapore (SIN).

The schedule features overnight departures from SIN at 00:55, arriving NRT at 08:40, and evening flights from NRT at 17:05, arriving SIN at 23:45.
From November 21, 2025, daily service fills these gaps with identical timings. The overnight leg from Singapore challenges economy passengers, but the return flight offers a convenient pre-midnight arrival.

AirJapan’s Aircraft and Pricing
AirJapan equips its Boeing 787-8 with 324 economy seats at a 32-inch pitch, matching Singapore Airlines’ legroom. Seats use the Safran Z110i model, refurbished from former ANA jets, with a 17.5-inch width.
Lowest “Simple” fares start at S$225 from SIN to NRT and S$194 return, including 7kg carry-on. Extra fees apply for seats, baggage, and meals. According to Mainly Miles, this setup prioritizes affordability over extras.

ZIPAIR Adjusts Capacity
ZIPAIR (ZG), Japan Airlines’ low-cost arm, cuts Singapore (SIN) to Tokyo Narita (NRT) flights to five weekly from January 7 to March 11, 2026. The airline launched the route in 2021 as the first LCC nonstop option.
The reduced schedule omits Tuesdays and Thursdays from NRT and Wednesdays and Fridays from SIN. Flights depart SIN at 00:40, arriving NRT at 08:25, and NRT at 16:35, arriving SIN at 23:10.
Daily service resumes March 12, 2026, through the winter season ends on March 28. ZIPAIR has operated daily since March 2023, but now focuses on yields elsewhere.

ZIPAIR’s Seating and Fare Options
ZIPAIR installs 18 “ZIP Full-Flat” seats in a 1-2-1 reverse herringbone layout on its Boeing 787-8, using JAMCO Venture products. Economy features Recaro CL3710 seats in a 3-3-3 setup.
Standard economy fares begin at S$225 from SIN to NRT and S$168 return, with 7kg carry-on. Full-flat fares start at S$696 outbound and S$561 return, unbundled for add-ons like meals or baggage.
Full-flat packages include Basic (seat only), Biz (seat selection, 12kg carry-on), Value (selection, 23kg checked, meal), and Premium (all plus amenities). Passengers select ancillaries individually.
By March 2026, the route will offer 124 weekly flights each way, a 13% rise from January 2020’s 110 flights. Airlines include Singapore Airlines, Japan Airlines, All Nippon Airways, Scoot, AirJapan (NQ), and ZIPAIR (ZG).
Schedules cover Narita (NRT) and Haneda (HND) with various aircraft. Low-cost options now diversify choices beyond pre-pandemic levels dominated by full-service carriers.

Future Outlook
AirJapan’s expansion signals strong demand, providing budget travel with low fares. ZIPAIR’s cutback adopts a cautious, profit-focused stance while maintaining unique flat-bed appeal at reduced prices.
Both carriers’ position of recovery, with the route supporting more flights and varied products from economy to hybrid business.
