GURUGRAM- Tata Group-owned Air India Express (IX), India’s first international low-cost carrier, has expanded its domestic network by launching direct flights connecting Ahmedabad (AMD) and Chandigarh (IXC) to Bengaluru (BLR).
The airline will operate twice-daily services between Chandigarh (IXC) and Bengaluru (BLR) and daily services between Ahmedabad (AMD) and Bengaluru (BLR), with the Ahmedabad route increasing to twice daily from September 16, 2025. A new daily service between Dehradun (DED) and Bengaluru (BLR) will also commence on September 15, 2025.

Air India Express New Destinations
Air India Express (IX) is strengthening its position in southern India by using Bengaluru (BLR) as a central hub.
With these new flights, the carrier provides direct access from key northern and western cities, while also offering one-stop connections to over 26 domestic and three international destinations via Bengaluru.
The inaugural Chandigarh (IXC)–Bengaluru (BLR) flight was flagged off by Aloke Singh, Managing Director of Air India Express. It departed Chandigarh at 16:40 hours and arrived in Bengaluru at 19:40 hours.
Similarly, the first Ahmedabad (AMD)–Bengaluru (BLR) service took off at 11:00 hours and landed at 13:25 hours. Celebrations at Chandigarh Airport (IXC) included a commemorative boarding pass presented to the first passenger.

From September 1, 2025 (all timings local):
- Ahmedabad (AMD) – Bengaluru (BLR): 11:00; 23:00 → 13:25; 01:30 | Twice Daily*
- Bengaluru (BLR) – Ahmedabad (AMD): 07:55; 19:55 → 10:30; 22:30 | Twice Daily*
- Chandigarh (IXC) – Bengaluru (BLR): 16:40; 23:25 → 19:40; 02:25 | Twice Daily
- Bengaluru (BLR) – Chandigarh (IXC): 13:15; 20:00 → 16:10; 22:55 | Twice Daily
*Second daily Ahmedabad (AMD)–Bengaluru (BLR) service begins September 16.
From September 15, 2025:
- Dehradun (DED) – Bengaluru (BLR): 12:50 → 16:00 | Daily
- Bengaluru (BLR) – Dehradun (DED): 16:30 → 19:30 | Daily

Building a Pan-India Network
Aloke Singh emphasized that these additions reflect the airline’s strategy of linking state capitals and major metros.
Passengers on these routes benefit from Air India Express’s (IX) product offerings, including Xpress Lite fares, hot meals, and uniquely themed aircraft liveries under its Tales of India initiative.
The first Chandigarh (IXC)–Bengaluru (BLR) service was operated by Boeing VT-BXB, painted with a livery inspired by Punjab’s Phulkari textile art. This is one of more than fifty tail designs launched to showcase Indian culture across the fleet.
Strengthening Bengaluru as a Hub
Bengaluru (BLR) is currently Air India Express’s (IX) largest domestic hub, with more than 405 weekly flights. These connect 34 Indian destinations, including Ahmedabad (AMD), Chandigarh (IXC), Dehradun (DED), Delhi (DEL), Chennai (MAA), Hyderabad (HYD), and Kochi (COK). The carrier also operates direct international services to Abu Dhabi (AUH), Dammam (DMM), and Kathmandu (KTM).
Additionally, Bengaluru (BLR) offers one-stop connections to 14 international destinations, including Dubai (DXB), Singapore (SIN), Doha (DOH), and Bangkok (BKK), further positioning the city as a strategic gateway for both business and leisure travellers.
Enhancing the Travel Experience
Beyond connectivity, Air India Express (IX) offers passengers access to Xpress Holidays, a travel platform featuring flight-inclusive packages with accommodation, transfers, and curated activities. This service reflects the airline’s intent to deliver not just flights, but complete travel solutions.
