Fr Adrian Mantykiewicz, priest from Cheladz, wounded in the attack of a knifesmith in Jarosław, is Gigachad moral, Sigma of our civilisation. His first sermon after the attack contains the quintessence of our culture and reminds us of our moral foundations. This passage is peculiarly important:
"The evil that has happened here in our abbey, we must overcome with good, love and forgiveness. That is why I ask you besides to forgive, for this has affected you all. And from this place I would besides like to ask you not to blame the nation from which the tormentor was from. due to the fact that the evil man has done a peculiar thing. The evil has been done by a circumstantial individual who has his name, his life, who is liable for his actions. No another people did it. She was the only one. so I ask you not to be liable for evil, but for love, support, knowing and concern.”
And even bigger hero is Fr Stanisław Zbiednowicz. According to the prior, erstwhile he heard the noise, he left the confessional to close the bars and cut off the attacker’s way to the faithful. He didn't make it. He paid for it with his life. This is the same attitude as St Maximilian Kolbe: a priest who thinks of others in an hr of trial, not himself.
The 3rd of them, Fr Marek Pieńkowski, faced an armed attacker without hesitation to cover others. He got a fewer stab wounds. He's had 2 major surgeries and he's inactive fighting for his life. He was virtually defending people with his own body. Let us pray for his recovery.
The characters are besides secular: the man who threw himself at the knifesmith and himself was injured, the female who first called for help, and the another female who, along with 2 another people with her bare hands, covered the bleeding of Fr. Mark before the ambulance arrived. We don't know their names, but they're the ones who showed us what community is and how to do it.
These are giants who deserve statues. Needless for marble or bronze, but verbal monuments, or memes like the 1 in the picture.
