An different and at the same time dangerous event occurred on 31 May in Barwinek, on the Podkarpackie section of the state border.
The driver of the Polish truck transporting rims from Turkey alerted Border defender officers from the Sanoku facility. As he reported, during the halt he heard suspicious sounds coming from inside the trailer. Uniforms immediately intervened and after beginning the cargo they discovered a young man hiding there without documents.
A foreigner declared he was from Palestine. His identity was determined by a translator and based on a statement, and his maturity was confirmed by a medical examination. The man was in good physical condition, but his relation revealed that the road he went through was not only long but besides dangerous. From Palestine through Turkey, he reached Europe thanks to the aid of smugglers. These were to promise to scope Italy in exchange for a payment of EUR 10,000. In Turkey, he was put in a semitrailer truck, which yet went to Poland – contrary to the first assurances about a journey to confederate Europe.
The Palestinian has heard the charge of illegally crossing the state border to which he has confessed. The court sentenced him to six months of probation for 2 years and decided to place him in a safe abroad facility for 3 months. Border defender continues its investigations to confirm the identity and country of origin of the man.
As officials point out, this is the first effort in 2025 to illegally cross the border in hiding on this section of the border with Slovakia. The services inform that human trafficking is inactive a serious threat, both to the safety of the state and to the lives of migrants themselves, who, for immense money, frequently hazard wellness and life, trusting criminal networks operating at European borders.
