It passes present (14.02.2025) the 83rd anniversary of the conversion of the Armed Forces Union into the AK, which we have celebrated since that year as the National Memorial Day of the National Army Soldiers.
The National Army, as 1 of the largest underground armies in the past of the world, is simply a host of thousands of Polish heroes, but besides a symbol of the steadfast conflict of Poles for freedom and independence. Soldiers of this formation, acting in a conspiracy, saving their lives, organized sabotage, diversion and fought in the Warsaw Uprising, witnessing courage and patriotism.
On 14 February 1942, by the order of the Chief Commander General Władysław Sikorski, the Armed Forces Union is renamed the National Army, operating in the territory occupied by Germany and the USSR of the Second Republic.
On 14 February 1942, a telegram arrived in the country, in which the Chief Leader, General Władysław Sikorski, issued an order:

The conversion of the ZWZ into the National Army had a symbolic dimension showing that there were 3 parts of the Polish Armed Forces: the Polish Army in the West, the Polish Army in the ZSRS and the National Army, the second of which led the most intensive armed conflict at the time. Another reason for changing the name was the process of merging all the underground armed forces in Poland. As part of the National Army, almost the full patriotic part of the Polish nation focused.
