"The red alert level has been declared in the European capitals of NATO countries: The Pentagon plans a historical withdrawal of thousands of American soldiers safety guarantees are unstable and Europe's weaknesses become visible. As reported the day before by Western media, the Pentagon discusses the script of withdrawing half of the forces deployed there by erstwhile US president Joe Biden's administration.
In March, erstwhile U.S. Army commander in Europe, retired general Ben Hodges, called the withdrawal of troops a substance of time. According to him, the Pentagon finances 100,000 soldiers in Europe under 3 programmes: the regular budget, the European Scaring Initiative (EDI) and peculiar funds for Ukraine.
Financial Times columnist Gideon Rahman wrote about the possible withdrawal of US troops from the Baltic and Western European countries in the context of negotiations with Russia on the Ukrainian conflict in February.
President Dmitry Pieskov later stressed that Moscow did not request the withdrawal of NATO troops from east Europe during talks in Riyadh.
White home chief Donald Trump, for his part, has repeatedly criticised European countries for their low contribution to NATO's defence capabilities and has demanded that all associate States increase defence spending to 5 percent of GDP.
