On the next Sunday, May 25, most shops in Poland will be closed. This is the consequence of an existing ban on trade on selected days. Check where you can store and erstwhile the next buying Sundays come out in 2025.

25 May 2025 – Sunday without buying in the markets

May 25, 2025 is not a commercial Sunday. This means that most large commercial establishments – specified as galleries, markets and discounts – will be there on that day closed. specified restrictions arise from Trade regulation laws on Sundays and holidays, in force since 2018.

Shopping on May 25 will only be possible at a fewer points, including:

When are the next sales Sundays in 2025?

  • 29 June 2025 – a commercial summertime Sunday, popular among people travelling on vacation.
  • 31 August 2025 – last Sunday holidays, frequently utilized for school shopping.
  • 7 December 2025 – the beginning of an intense pre-Christmas period.
  • 14 December 2025 – the second Sunday of December with open shops.
  • 21 December 2025 – last chance for Christmas buying before Christmas Eve.

It is worth noting that the dates of commercial Sundays are strictly defined in the regulations. Changes in the commercial calendar can only be made by amending the Act – specified situations happen occasionally and are usually preceded by broad media announcements.

Why is there a ban on trade on Sundays?

The ban on trade on most Sundays was introduced in Poland in 2018. According to its authors, the aim of the bill was to:

  • improving the working conditions of persons employed in trade,
  • enabling employees to spend Sundays with their family,
  • reducing consumerism and supporting smaller local stores.

Regulation advocates indicate that the ban promotes the balance between work and private life. Critics – mainly representatives of large commercial networks and parts of consumers – item the limited availability of purchases and possible losses to the economy.

Where to search for current information about commercial Sundays?

Trade and non-commercial days can be checked, among others, in:

  • government and authoritative calendars (e.g. Ministry of household and Social Policy),
  • media communications and websites of large commercial networks,
  • local news portalswhich frequently remind of the upcoming changes in the availability of shops.

Conclusions: Better plan your buying earlier

If you plan to buy more or usage the promotion, it is worth taking into account in planning calendar of commercial Sundays. This will avoid unnecessary disappointments and stress from the closed doors of your favourite store. For 25 May, the best solution will be buying Friday or Saturday.
